The best car ever.
I have had many cars in life, currently the S60 2.4T AWD for over a year. I'm an outdoorsman, passionate hiker and this car does everything I need. I can even sleep in there in straight position (185cm tall). The car is super reliable, parts are not the cheapest but the car won't need many and often. Performance is OK for a daily driver, obviously there are more powerful ones but I don't actually even need more. 147kw is good enough. AWD allows me to leave home even at harder winter. The interior leather is good, I keep a dog with me and it can be cleaned to look as good as new. Fabric interior on my previous car was looking and stinking awfully in less than a year... Also this is the only car I can take over 1000km trip in a day and won't have a horrible back pain later. So in conclusion if you want a good cruiser, reliable hiker, better performance than average grocery getter, and are willing to pay a bit more for the comfort, go for it.

It was a great car while it lasted
I bought my 2001 Volvo S60 2.4L in January 2018. In August 2018, I watched her get hauled away for the last time. I've always liked Volvos. That's why I bought my old 2001 S60. Unmistakable exterior styling, the most comfortable car interior I've ever been in (and I drive BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus, Jags, and more at work), and power when I needed it. It had 227K miles on it when I bought it and check engine light 8 days later (catalytic converter issues). But I still drove it on several long-ish trips, including a trip out of state to see family. It was a great, sporty, reliable car. The A/C didn't work (compressor was dead), but the power windows and sunroof fixed that problem. It provided a super smooth ride, a great sounding stock sound system, and the most comfortable car seats to have ever blessed my rear end (they were heated, too). Its 2.4L 5 cylinder engine packed a punch, despite it being small. My ruby red S60 turned heads everywhere she went. And with Volvo's safety record, I felt very safe driving my S60. However, just a short 7 months after I bought her, "Stella" suffered from an electronic throttle module failure, an extremely common issue in every Volvo model from this era. Being is a very expensive fix by itself, and the dead A/C compressor and electrical issues would cost even more. Also, the alarm siren module went out, which creates even more issues due to the way it's wired. All in all, it was a great car, but you have to be very devoted to it to keep up with maintenance, as Volvo cars from this era have a lot of expensive issues that tend to pop up just as they become this old. TL;DR: Safe, strong car, great ride, nice features for the year, but time catches up to it and hits it hard.

With TLC this car will last me another 17 yrs
Still looks good, no rust, no rattles, and the HVAC still works like new. Also noteworthy is the power the car has (2.3 litre high pressure turbo) has at mid range. In 17 years, the car has cost me less than $100 a month in maintenance...considering the cost of even a 2-3 year old VOLVO to replace it, it is money well spent. The car was my daily commuter until I retired 5 years ago. 240,000 + km on the odometer right now.

My forth Volvo.
I owned this car for 14 years and it proved to live up to its brand in quality, safety and performance. Many would express surprise at the age and condition of the vehicle.

Great power in disguise
Owned this car for 6 months. I bought it from a dealership with 1 previous owner who babied it. To the point it ruined the engine. It was the i5 turbo engine and the owner had never given it the beans so there was a massive build up of carbon. I changed the oil the week after i got it and found out how much junk there was. Changed the oil two more times in the 6 month period. The last time was the day before the engine seized because a carbon deposit clogged the PCV and blew the cam seals. I cried. It was a good car. Lots of fun. Had an amazing amount of power. Lots of storage space. Was a super safe car. The head rest wouldnt move and hurt my neck if i had a ponytail. Overall pretty good car. I just caught a dud.

230,000 and still strong
I bought this 2001 S60 used, it has been a most reliable, comfortable , and easy car to drive and easy on the eyes. The finish and quality of these cars are amazing, they hold up well, are user Friendly, and as a result, most think it is new. I haven't had any instance that it failed or stranded me. The maintenance is very reasonable and I have enjoyed every minuet of every long distant trip it has taken me on.

Fun to drive and reliable.
I bought my 2001 S-60 at a dealer auction 4 years ago (in 2009) and planned to re-sell and make a few bucks. After driving it around for a few weeks, I decided it would become my daily commuter car and I still love the way it drives. It's reasonably quick, nimble, and has been very reliable. Other than replacing the CV axles and putting on new brake pads , I've only had to change the oil. I highly recommend this car and will continue to drive it as long as it hangs in there (no sign of slowing down) .....one more thing, I didn't even know that Volvo recommends premium gas until reading online today. I've been using regular gas for 4 years (50,000 miles) and the car performs nicely. No pings, no pops, and no problems. I average about 25 mpg and I will never be accused of babying the machine; just for grins I may try a tank of premium and see if I can tell a difference, but I highly doubt I will.
