Great performance and easy to tune and mod. However, it is costly to maintain, even if you can turn a wrench; so be prepared to spend money for regular maintenance.

I have owned 11 BMW's over the years, from old e36s, to M3's, M5's, my 2011 335i M Sport is one of my favorite cars, the interior design language is excellent, the exterior is amazing too, it drives so much better than the new gen cars, the steering feels alive, and it handles awesome. Reliable as can be, the N55 sounds really nice as well when paired with the M performance exhaust. Gives you just enough fun and noise to enjoy your daily commute and enjoy on a winding back road.

I mention that because although my car was low mileage and I'm familiar with all the weakspots of this engine, many components failed earlier than expected. Replacement water pump and entire cooling system are some things that needed attention shortly after purchase. In terms of luxury appointments, it doesn't compare to my previous E60 5 series. It is best to consider it a high quality sport sedan instead of a luxury sedan. The performance, handling, and character of the engine and drivetrain make up for any shortcomings.
