I love my Dakota! They can pull more than what they are rated for, the 3.9L V6 sounds great, they are tough, and it's never left me stranded, the interior is simple and comfortable, it has some cool fetures for its age like a built in engine light decoder, and Cruze control that adapts to hills, and it has never needed major engine work. The one drawback is it has poor fuel economy around 16MPG, notorious for rust, and the automatic are reportedly very flaky (idk how bad I got the 5 speed NV3500). Overall Its a great truck and can make a great first vehicle!

Salesman was very helpful. However, they sold the vehicle the night before our arrival. Oh well, wasn't meant to be.

It has met all my needs so far. I had Dakota before and I am quite happy. Glad I looked on cars.com to find it!

I stopped in with my son, a first time buyer who was looking for something to tackle the snow with. Ya know, most of the time when you’re greeted that fast as a auto shopper you’re thinkin’ uh-oh another pushy salesman, but that was far from the case. November 12th 2024, I bought my Dodge Dakota SXT 3.7 L, automatic 2x4 from the original owner, it was a commuter truck from Fredericksburg Virginia to DC I picked it up with 258,000 / Now 290k , It's been a great truck for what I need. I'd like to find a machinist and get the heads redone. The bottom end should be pretty good but I'll give it a good look through when I have the funds. Just keep up with simple maintenance especially with suspension and steering parts don't let things go too long cost more money. That has been my experience with many vehicles. NO doubt, I do like this DAK!

This truck was my friend for four years until I traded it in om a fullsize RAM. It was a true workhorse. I used it as a daily commuter, family vehicle, cargo hauler, and as a tow vehicle and it did it all well. Ride could be better but, let's face it it's a truck. I truly love the design, I feel it's an attractive looking truck. Interior design looks a little cheap, but it's thought out well and I was always using the fold-flat crates under the back seats. I traded it in because I needed a larger back seat as kids are getting bigger, and because it's one flaw is the power (or lack there of) of the V6 engine. Hot day with the A/C cranked up and a full load of passengers and you can feel a big drop in performance.

I brought ny Cherokee Jeep in for an oil change. Derek is very knowledgeable and extremely professional and explained that in 60x miles the jeep will get a thorough check up. It's a great and good riding and fun to drive I however have been having problems when changing the rear brakes pads especially on the drivers side, and the emergency rear brake cable as well, other wise it's a pretty reliable truck, when commuting or hauling things, do need a new years wifi ,cd , am/fm radio.

I have owned my 2005 Dodge Dakota 4.7 Laramie since 2012 as of writing this is in the middle of August 2025. I have had no issues with my truck. The truck runs perfect I’ve towed heavy loads many times over 500 miles. This is the best vehicle I’ve ever had. I had a 1986 Toyota pick up with a 22 R engine that blew the head gaskets twice back in 1992. I’ve had a 2016 Toyota Highlander that one was OK but the interior started cracking. I have a 2020 Kia Telluride had to replace the transmission. I’ve had a 1985 GMC blazer had to replace the engine in 1992 with less then 100,00 miles on it. Right now my truck sits on 18 inch rims 31 inch tires no suspension lift. The 2005 dakota has KO 3 all terrain 31 inch tires and has a bunch of overland equipment on it with a Ikamper tent In the interior it has no cracks or blemishes. I can tell you that this is probably the best truck I will own for the rest of my life I don’t plan to ever get rid of it like I said this is a solid truck. I love it. The truck also has over 170,000 miles on it. No transmission issues no engine issues no issues at all. i’ve also taken it out trailing in a mountains, terrain where you see Toyota Trd pros jjeeps, and everything and I get a lot of compliments on it.

This my 2nd Dodge Dakota, I would recommend another one to anyone who wants manual truck. My 1st was 1997 Dodge Dakota, I actually prefer the 97 style to the 2006 model, this year would make my truck 26 yrs old. Still on the road, just has a few maintenance issues, still planning on keeping my 97, gonna put it in the shop for some TLC. I guess what I am trying to say is that the Dodge corporation made one xxxx of a truck, I believe that if the 2006 last as long as my 97, then this will be my last truck. Nothing better than shifting gears with the windows rolled down, going 60 mph.

Not a lot of room in cab but over 400000 and still going strong and starts every time . Pulls great even when overloaded. I would recommend this truck with the 3.9L motor to anyone

Bought it brand new, good use of space in center console, everything logically placed. Very few issues. Seat seam wore out from entry and exit on regular basis.

I've owned and driven many many trucks of all makes and models.. And I've actually owned two 1989 Dakotas, both full sized 8ft bed trucks with the largest engine option in 89 the 3.9L LA V6 with TBI. Both trucks still running and driving near the 300,000mi mark, with the original engines and trannys. My daily driver is a 5speed Dakota it averages 22mpg in hilly areas on the highway closer to 30. These trucks essentially run forever no matter how hard you work them; they do NOT stop going.

My second purchase from new 2 you ... 1st a silverado and now a ford work van.. Had a check engine light come on a couple months after purchase. Was told stop by so they can take a look.. easy fix.. Guys are great to work with Thanks for your help! Mike w.

I have a 2005 dakota that I purchased new. I love it. 18 years of owning it. I have had very few issues. I use for hauling and recently I have been using it for highway driving. It just works. It's nothing fancy in fact it's kind of utilitarian. But I does everything I need it to do. I do maintain it well. but I have only had minor issues. The fuel mileage is not great but it's a truck.

Iv owned this 2001 dodge dakota 4.7 quad cab 5 speed manual for about 6.5 years great truck has about 300670 miles original motor transmission different transfer case but lasted for 225k before it split into It pulls my boat and take it cross country at least 2 times a year Best investment iv made in my life

Unfortunately, my car was totaled and I was able to find a very nice Toyota RAV4, that I’ve always wanted! Matthew was absolutely amazing. I've had my 05 dakota 3.7 quad cab for about a year and I have put 16000 miles on it without a problem I have found that it likes the finer fuel in life and premium gas ain't cheap!

It’s a great truck. Very cheap to fix when it needs to be. It breaks down all the time because it’s had multiple owners in the past. But that’s MY truck. Yours may be great. Mine is okay. Very very worn out. But it still runs good when it decides it wants to work.

Bought new in 03. Has a club cab with 3.9L engine. Always started and got me home. No serious problems. Replaced water pump, serpentine belt, ball joints and wheel bearings at 100k. Best truck I've owned over 45 years of driving.

Bought this Dakota Quad 4x4 new. It has the 4.7 V8. The absolute Best Truck I’ve ever owned. It’s still lookin and running like new with 250.000 miles on it. Never had any problems with it. It’s sitting in the drive way right now.

Engine choices suck.Bring back the 5.2(318),so its actually a reliable working truck.Having to avoid the V/8 and getting the V/6 is not nice at all.

I bought mine used and I believe it had a rough life before I bought it. It took some getting used to after owning a 1500. My truck has a softer life now and it is a good quality truck.
