Bought used with 30K miles in 2006. Now has 88K miles. Only problem so far is power antenna; we just leave it up. I do oil changes at 5K, replaced spark plugs at 50K, tires at 60K and replaced battery before winter of 2011 (preventive maintenance). All else is original. Fun to drive, quick, 28 mpg local and 32+ travelling. This 2001 4 door 5 speed manual turbo moon roof hatchback is wonderful car. Too bad they stopped making them.

this dealer has it figured out. I bought a 2003 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 from them. They let me take it to a local mechanic before purchase. They supplied me with the Carfax as well, actually offered it before i asked. When i called and asked about the truck the described it exactly as it was. No games. This car was amazing. It lasted 12 years and 190,000 miles before a tree landed on it and it needed too many repairs. Over those 12 years is only needed an alternator and a seat rip repaired, that is it. The car was excellent as it handled well, it got great gas mileage (averaged 26 mpg in the suburbs, 35 or 36 mpg on the highway), and had nice acceleration with minimal turbo lag. The fact is was so durable made you overlook to some degree the unusual controls. The turn stalk felt flimsy like you could break it easily but over all those years nothing went wrong with it. The key is in the center but that was fine and Saab claimed they did it so you would not hit it with your knee in a car accident, and break your kneecap. This car even had one USB port even though it was a little before its time. The heads-up display worked well. Even though the car was badly damaged by the tree as I had to go off road and damaged the underside of my car badly, my mechanic bought it from me, fixed it, and sold it to a college student. Now it is 13 years old and has over 200,000 miles on the original powertrain. If that is not durable I don't know what is. No car I have owned has lasted as long as that one - not Toyota, not Honda. They also have lasted a long time but the transmissions on both of them died by 160,000 miles for the Toyota, by 140,000 on the Honda. If I could buy a relatively new one again I would but of course I cannot as they are no longer in business. Too bad, despite their quirks, they were durable, reliable, efficient cars.

Kept my old car as a backup. Wanted this one because I love the look. Waited 15 months and 45,000 miles to evaluate it. Drive my backup for a week and couldn't wait to slide back in this 11 year old car with 198k miles. Just love it...that's why I'm reviewing it. So smooth, look down I'm going 70 and getting 34 mpg. Only did oil and air filters and four tires. Usually adding 40k miles on a car that has 150k already is a disaster. Not here. So happy and lots of parts in junk yard if I need them . Gonna buy one for my daughter for safety. That's how much I like them

Found a specific SUV I wanted and found it at Auto World. Sent in a inquiry if it was still available. Mike called back and we discussed the truck. Made plans to come and review it. A few phone calls later I made the 300 mile drive with my trade. Came through a couple of snow storms RT 90 and 81. Met Mike and Bill and within a 1/2 hour had the deal done a paperwork going. Gassed up and headed to the Great White North. Again RT81 was it nice, 7 hours later I was back in Western NY. Experience was great, fair negotiations. The entire staff was very helpful. This is the most reliable car I’ve ever owned. Drove her off the lot brand new and 16 years later and 150K miles, she’s still smooth as silk. Only repairs are a window and windshield wiper!! So sad they don’t make these cars anymore.

This car drives like a dream - and has the power of most lower end performance cars and the functionality of a truck! Great economy/power combination. Handling is fantastic, braking is great! The seats are very comfortable for long distance driving - just with SAAB would have kept using their leather and not GM materials here. Overall it's a great car and if you have never driven one - go drive one and fall in love!

The SAAB is no longer made so these cars in good to excellent condition are going to go up in value as time progresses. This car has served us well over the 153,000 miles that we've had it with very few issues over that time. It has remained in almost factory new condition mainly due to care and maintenance, but still impressive.

Great car overall. Drives very well and quite punchy and fun with a good turbo. Reliable, haven't had much issues so far. Value is great especially since they are loaded well and its less then 10k for a decent one. VERY VERY safe car, Saab's are extremely safe and this car gives you confidence that you are safe. I have a 2.0T which gets good mpg for its class, I once got around 40 mpg highway. The 2.0T is fun and punchy with impressive acceleration, most reliable too. If your willing to spend a little more and have significant funds for maintenance and repairs go for a 2.8T V6, which is fast. It handles well. Pros: 1. Well priced, good value 2. Stylish and unique design 3. Great cornering headlights xenon 4. Good engine, reliable if maintained, fast/quick 5. Very Safe, Swedish Metal 6. Jet fighter interior look Cons: 1. Rear seat legroom is a little disappointing but not a major issue for me, but if you have a large family i wouldn't recommend this car, go for a 9-5 instead. 2. Paint damages easily when older, these 9-3s can have paint peel issues in the long run if you live in hotter climates. 3. Some interior pieces aren't the best of quality for it's class. Door handles and small things, it can be creaky. Overall: Here and there it has minor disappointments but it definitely makes up for it very well. Great and fun car. I highly recommend this as a first car or commuter, maybe even for a small family.

You can generally buy these pretty cheap used. Many will poopoo these versions saying they are just GM's. I had a great time with my Saab, was it quirky, yes of course, it is a Saab. The only frustrating failure on the car was the "run away fan" which is a weird condition created when the climate control resister goes out. It is not easy to get to, but I go better at it. I ended up having an engine fail but it never left me stranded, as near as I can tell it just started burning the coolant in the engine. They put a 2006 engine and have never had another issue with it. Like any European car, the weakness is electrical in the long run. After a 100k or so, the modern cars start to get weird do to wiring issues. Mine started having issue with the security system and so I gave it to my kids as their car. I bought this 2004 in 2007 with an extended warranty so the engine replacement was free.
