Used Subaru Forester for sale near Carter Lake, IA under $30,000

I truly cannot even begin to say enough great things about working with Becky from Subaru. I was an extremely reluctant buyer; in fact, I reached out to Subaru at the beginning of August with a few questions, and then ghosted for a month. Becky gently reached out, offered to help with questions, answered what I did ask, but never pressured me or called and emailed aggressively like other dealerships were doing. Her approach gave me space to consider my options and actually made me feel less like she wanted just another sale (which, hey, we all need to make money—not an unreasonable goal), but like I was respected as a human being. So, I began asking more questions which she had all the answers too. It began clear to me that Becky knows her stuff, believes in the quality of her product, and she knows what her buyer wants and needs: respect. So I came back. I’ve bought roughly 5 cars in my life, and at the risk of sounding cheesy, I’ve never had an experience like this. I felt I had built a relationship with Becky and the Subaru team and that we were all working together to get me the best deal. When I finally went to the dealership I was in awe of the culture, space, and warmth of the employees. Bonus: I got to bring my Great Pyrenees who was doted on and played as we went over paperwork. The thing that struck me the most is Becky knows people, and she’s not just selling, she’s helping people achieve goals, meet needs, and get a quality product. I had sworn before I went to the dealership not to walk out of there with a bunch of extra warranty packages, but I ended up choosing three, because Becky believes in her product. Because of her great work, I am a Subaru buyer for life and I will always direct anyone I know who needs a car to Baxter Subaru and tell them to ask for Becky.

I’ve owned this car for about 18 months. It has I bought it new and it now has about 17,000 miles on it. I love driving it. The safety features are excellent! The performance is good. I’m getting around 32 MPG for all around driving. I have the car maintained at the dealership and haven’t had any mechanical issues. I would definitely recommend this car.

I had a wonderful experience at this dealership. Although every staff member that helped me was pleasant and helpful, Anthony Botello was the main sales consultant that helped me throughout the process. He was always pleasant, prompt, and above all incredibly honest. He was everything you'd hope a person would be to work with when buying or selling a vehicle. He helped me with my vehicle and made it painless and quick. Although all staff at this dealership are great, I was so thankful I got to work with Anthony. I bought my 2025 Subaru Forester the middle of August and two weeks later took it on a 1500 mile road trip. My only complaints are the funky steering (extremely sensitive) and the 11.6" Infotainment screen occasionally freezing. That's not a good thing when driving in traffic. I wished it was AWD versus continuous four wheel drive. Overall, I do like the Forester better than the CR-V I had before.

I had to make a 5 1/2 hour drive recently and loved how smoothly my car drove, especially using cruise control with “eyesight” so it slowed when I was too close to the car in front of me. I couldn’t even feel it; I watched the speedometer. Love the safety features and extras like seat warmers and large sunroof.

This would be my 2nd car I bought from Baxter VW, after my first car had been totaled. I got in touch with Luke Andrew, who was very friendly and knowledgeable on the GTIs and helped me find what I wanted in less than a week. A few weeks after taking home my new car, he sent me a thank you card talking about how much he loved the GTIs and that he hopes I was enjoying it. I recently had my car stolen and totaled. I actually work for the dealership and enjoy the work I do with the company. Mr krohn has been helping me out for the past month and a half with a car. It has been difficult but with the patience and time he has given my mom and I, I could not be more grateful for him! He worked with my mom and I till the very end and has been nothing but helpful. I ended up getting a 2019 subaru forester. Lots of room and a perfect vehicle into the middle of my adult life. I hope this car lasts me through the next few years. I posted a previous review that I was upset about the brakes on the vehicle I purchased. Posted the review because I didn't believe that they would help a customer out because of the previous reviews I read. This is not the case. After posting my review Alex R (GM) reached out to me and left his phone number so I could contact him. Alex is truly trying to change the perception of the business and is very professional. He sent me a check for the money I put into the vehicle to get the brakes fixed. He did not have to do this but he did. Before you over react as I did and posting a review, I would recommend contacting Alex. He's patient and listens to what you have to say. Never interrupted me one time. The few words he said were "what can I do to make this right." I think GretnaAuto has something good with Alex and I hope the see it themselves as well.

I have owned my 2017 Forester since late 2016. Except for normal maintenance I've had no problems with thr vehicle. All of the warning systems work very well,they have saved me from accidents numerous times. The automatic seat repositioning when some one else has used my is really handy eliminates all the adjusting needed to get the position back to my needs. Traction and controll during winter and bad weather are excellent. My forrester get used like a truck at times. Great overall car.

Purchased a new 150 no rush or pressure a great place to buy a car

This is my third Subaru Forrester. I like the newer safety features and ease of handling. The size is perfect for me, not too small or too big! I would recommend if you’re looking for a midsize vehicle.

Had this car for seven years, never any problems, very low mileage. Very nice to drive, smooth gas mileage around 30 mpg. Traded it in for a new forester, I actually was ready to cry, when I left it. Very reliable.

I’m the 3rd owner of a 2012 Subaru Forester purchased at approx 175,000 miles and it still runs pretty good! It does burn oil up pretty quickly and mine has issues with reading the levels and won’t give me a warning light so i check the dip stick often. Mine did have exhaust issues and had to replace a rested out piping from the cat back, but mufflers were still good. Also the Oxygen sensor was a problem for awhile, which you can only use on brand for it to work properly. Gas mileage is decent for the size of the vehicle and its age. Only wish the front seats went back more bc my taller girlfriend who is 5’11 with long legs struggles to fit and be comfortable in the passenger seat.

I've never owned a Subaru before but after purchasing the Forester, I may never own anything but a Subaru again! I love the Eyesight Drivers Assistant that it came equipped with. I can see why this car has one of the best safety ratings out there. The interior is very open, spacious, & comfortable and the panoramic sunroof is amazing! It drives and handles like a dream. I would recommend this car to anyone. You won't be disappointed!

Bought my 2015 Subaru 2.0XT Touring brand spanking new off the Subaru dealership's lot. Have owned it all this time about 9 years straight. Take care of your car with regular oil changes, servicing at recommended intervals, and your car will take care of you. Performed the required recalls during service periods. Not 1 single regret on owning this car, ever. It rides smooth and true. Had a clicking issue in the ball joints 2 years ago which Subaru fixed free of charge. Other than that, this car has been my dream machine.

We took an explorer in to have a door fixed - so helpful and friendly. Quick service done with quality. We also wanted to looked at a vehicle they were selling and ended up buying it! They gave us a great deal on it too.

The Subaru Forester is indeed one of the safest cars on the road. I was in an auto accident (not my fault) and all my air bags blew. Wow, what a site--air bags everywhere! Car was totalled--got hit in front drivers side--and my only injury, aside from bruises, was a broken ankle. Impressed. Aside from that, we have had several Subarus and they have always gotten us through. The all-wheel drive system can not be beat!

Bought this car three years old with less than 50K miles on it. I’ve loved it since we got it. It has been very reliable, fun to drive, with pretty minor drawbacks. For example the maintenance has been very minimal. I haven’t noticed ANY oil burning or leaking (I have personally changed the oil every 3-4K miles). Sometimes on long trips it will burn some oil and need a top off, which the car alerts us to. Overall I’d buy this car over and over as long as it fit my needs at the time. Currently looking into an Ascent for future hockey trips and other trips.

One of the most comfortable cars I have owned. The things I love best. the reliability of the vehicle, only regular maintenance with higher miles, The huge moon roof, and the simple design of the interior of car. This car is loaded yet has very minimal control buttons which is perfect for me rather than trying to figure out how to operate everything. Best car I have ever owned especially buying used with high miles.

The Forester is the first SUV I ever owned. It has had a few issues, but the dealership, Kenny Ross in Irwin Pa, has always been top notch in customer service. First issue was the orignal tires went bald after only 10,000 miles. I called Kenny Ross and they said they would contact corporate. Got 4 new tires at no charge. Next issue I did not even know I had. Took it in for an oil change and they tell me I need a new CVT. Didn't know I had a problem. No charge again. Last issue was a radio that kept giving an error message and would not work. Took four visits to isolate the problem, but now have a new radio that brings in more stations. Again for free. Highly recommend the bumper to bumper warranty. Money well spent.

LOVE this car, maybe a little biased since this is my 5th Forester, my 2nd Wilderness. My first Wilderness was totaled in a head-on collision when a young driver spilled coffee and veered into my lane and struck me head-on. That was my 1st Subaru Forester Wilderness and IT SAVED MY LIFE. Full curtain all-around airbag deployment with a roll, the Wilderness coming to rest on it's right side, me still strapped into seatbelt, and the Subaru automatic crash notification with a live person on the speakers asking me if I was ok and needed 911! Smoke still coming from the airbag deployments, and there is a live person coming over the speakers asking me if I'm ok. It was surreal. SUBARU FORESTER WILDERNESS SAVED MY LIFE! TYVM Subaru! LOVE this car! Gets 25+ MPG with conservative driving, a great ride and suspension, superior traction in mud and snow, load-out practically anything/rack bikes (or whatever on the roof racks), sleep in the back with ample room, superior rear-gate lift mechanism with memory, seats super-comfortable and easily adjustable, solid rear-seat leg-room, easy rear-seat fold-downs for massive cargo area that takes my full HVAC tool load-out for servicing ice baths all over the NorthEast US. A great value, especially CPO with +10K mileage (vs. new) MONEY WELL SPENT! SUBARU FOR LIFE

Great selection of cars, affordable price, and open seven days a week. All the staff were very kind and made the process of buying the car very easy. They were very easy to work with and let me know the full history of the car with documentation of all the repairs done on it as well as a full CarFax report. I highly recommend Optimus Auto to anyone in the market for a used car!

Likes: spacious interior despite modest exterior dimensions, easy to maneuver, great visibility all around, comfortable ride, good traction, handling, and braking, nice interior finish on sport model, strong steering responsive headlights yet they don't blind opposing traffic, very good optional Harmon sound system, numerous effective safety features, low insurance premiums, adequate acceleration..a few cons: actual economy slightly under EPA estimates, seat may be a bit too firm for some but easy to address by adding a thin seat cushion, mandatory sunroof on all but the base model..I wish Subaru would just make that a single option..rough engine start-stop ..however I disable it each time I start engine so it can be a non issue...no reliability issues yet but since this has a cvt and fairly complex safety features, long term reliability is unknown..

This is our second Forester. Our first was a 2011 Premium we bought as a CPO in 2014 and unfortunately went through the headache of excessive oil consumption within months of buying it. Subaru did eventually replace the engine short block on their dime, but only after repeated oil consumption tests and being told by the dealer service department that it was within normal limits. Calling Subaru of America was the only way we got it resolved. I was impressed that they approved the service, and that's the reason we bought another Subaru. We also have a 2018 Outback Premium in our garage--no oil consumption, and no major issues except replacing the radio for failed lighting behind the volume knob and a minor leak in the oil pan (no dripping underneath the car though) at about 42k miles. We like our 2023 Forester Sport overall, and first and foremost we like its excellent safety ratings and features. I will say the ride is much firmer than our Outback which is only a couple hundred pounds heavier. Wish it had a little more storage in the center console and beneath the climate controls. We look forward to many years of driving with the Forester (and our Outback). Based on our experience, I do feel getting a Subaru-backed extended warranty is worth it for peace of mind (we bought them for our first Forester and now our Outback and both eventually paid for themselves). You DON'T have to buy the warranty when you purchase the vehicle. Call different dealers in your state and ask for their price on an extended warranty for your vehicle--we saved hundreds of dollars by doing this. You have until your manufacturer warranty expires to add an extended warranty.

Jojo and Greyson were phenomenal! They eased my concerns and walked me through the process of my car repair, all while my husky was in need of her monthly arthritis pain shot. (Which due to them she got!) I highly recommend their dealership, and this is where my business will stay for all my auto repairs including any and all future auto purchases. The radio and the heat settings leave a lot to be desired. If you’re looking for a heater setting, you won’t find it. Nothing annoys me more than unrequested updates on flood watch/warning. it just can’t be tailored to exactly where you live. But every 6 minutes is a bit of overkill. And our previous Forester had a tray in the middle storage (glove box). Even though we asked our salesman about that, we have heard nothing. Missing the change tray a lot.

I've owned a 2011 Subaru Forester for years and it has been supremely dependable through northern Michigan weather. Super cold to humid and muggy, it's been a comfortable, reliable ride throughout.
