*this is the Legacy L Special Edition, not the base trim Lots of positive things to say about this car, with only a few minor negatives. Pros: -EXCELLENT in the snow, rain, etc given the very well performing AWD, which is superior to all other AWD systems. -Easy to drive, easy to service (oil drain plug points forwards, very easy and simple to access) -good interior -- all added features have no issues (eg heated seats, power windows, etc) -good visibility and control -gas mileage is fairly good. Not as good as say, a Honda Civic, but much better than other cars in this class or larger sedans. -Put 30,000 kms since bought (used) with no problems other than regular maintenance Cons: -comfortable overall, but suited for persons of average height or less -automatic drive shifter is annoying to shift into drive -no auxiliary adapter -- built in sound system is not great (unless upgraded) -you have to push the fob button at least twice to unlock the back doors Neutrals: -accelerator pedal (on automatics) increases speed based on how quickly you push the pedal, as opposed to how hard you push it. This is something to get used to, as, if you are trying to access maximum power by pushing the pedal really hard, it won't make the car rev harder. Most cars don't work this way and it gives the illusion that this car is under-powered. However, I assure you, if you push the pedal quickly and allow it to rev fully to 6,000 rpm, it has adequate power.

I stopped in with my son, a first time buyer who was looking for something to tackle the snow with. Ya know, most of the time when you’re greeted that fast as a auto shopper you’re thinkin’ uh-oh another pushy salesman, but that was far from the case. great design and performance. I had a lot of fun with that car. It was definitely my favorite car. The all wheel drive was great. I still put winter tires on because I had to drive in all weather conditions. With snow tire on it the car was a tank in the winter. I live in Vermont.

They are father and son are some of the best most laid back people i know in the business. I like the cars that they keep and it was no problem for my family to find one there at a great price. Highly recommended!

Just bought this car from a private seller with 147K on it. I have never felt true love before I owned a Subaru, and now I know what it feels like! I imagine it's a stronger bond than having a child. Only thing that caught me off guard about this specific model was ... NO CUP HOLDERS! Thought it was funny but no big deal, there is room to install in the back seats! Also this thing punches for a wagon, watch the xxxx out everyone green machine is coming through! Also, going to be honest the seats are about as comfy as my old 2018 Altima and way better than the lame xxx Centra!

Great for hauling groceries or goodies, home goods or holiday trimmings. Good gas mileage, many perks on my vehicle...air, power windows, locks, mirrors. Great for long road trips. Easy to repair, with most parts on the low end of cost.

I inherited this car from my family when I turned 16 and we’d already owned it for 5+ years. It came from VT and followed me down the coast to PA, where after years of loyal service, I gave it to a kid to take to college cross country in Texas. At the time she left I’d put more than 270,000 mi on, and it eagerly puttered right on off! Car was crazy durable and saw me through my learning to drive years as well as the harsh New England winters. Entire pieces would fall off sometimes, and I always figured I didn’t need them, because that little car just kept purring! Subys are great in snow and can go forever!

Bought a Subaru for reliability and wasn't disappointed. 117,000 miles and it has a lot of life left in it. No major problems.

This vehicle was purchased for me by my dad. He went thru Lyman Motors. They did an engine rebuild on this vehicle. So, even though its 15 years old, and has quite a few miles, it was for a fair price! And, with the engine rebuilt I know it will go for another 100k miles easy! Lyman made this buying experience so much fun for us! He is such a wondering person! My Dodge truck got stolen in January of 2022 . I needed a car I only had liability on truck so I got no $$. I bought this 1998 Subaru Outback for 2000$ it had 170,000 miles on it the owner did all the Maintance he was going to give to his daughter so he wanted it in tip top condition , well his daughter took one look and said yuk I don’t want that . So he sold it to me . New tires new brakes all u joints new transmission service . All because it was for his daughter . Lucky me . I have drove this car all over to Montana to LA lots of place . Great in the snow . I will say this is the best car I have ever owned for 2000$ dollars . I have put 30,000 miles on it , just over 200,000 miles on it . Also the AC works great . I love this car . I get more compliments on this Sub then I ever did on my Dodge Ram . Bottom line I do recommend .

I bought my Subby two months ago and I love it. Being a 2000 though, I have put almost 2 grand just to make it reliable vehicle. It is not a racecar so do not try, currently stock but it does get you from point A to point B without any question. The air conditioning may need to be recharged but we have to remember it is a 2000 but other than that, I would highly recommenced this vehicle! Does not have any leaks what so ever so it will not stain your driveway.

Good and reliable at beginning then more problems then I have had with my other Subarus I had problems with starting it that cost me over a thousand dollars. Axel problems for s lot of money, and a lot of little leaks in engine that needed fixing

I have had two Subarus, and read an article in Business Week that the Legacy station wagons 2005-2007 were over-designed, and they were right, it drives like a poor man's Porsche, and with very good gas mileage. Only design flaw is the Porsche aspect, the boxer engine means it will need a new gasket if you wish to keep it more than 5 years.

I would like to share the positive, outstanding experience we had with Blake McGuire at Davidson Gebhardt Chevrolet in Loveland.
