I went in for a test drive.
I went in for a test drive. I’d called ahead and the vehicle (CR-V hybrid) was pulled up front and ready to go. A quick interaction with the manager and the salesman (which may have gone faster because I was already in their system from a prior visit) and we were off on a good test route. The salesman, Sasha, was knowledgeable about his product and easy to converse with, and asked good questions to get a feel for what I was looking for. No hard sell. If all dealership interactions were this efficient, effective and pleasant people would feel more positively toward dealership relationships.
My Tundra is a wonderful truck.
Bought new in San Diego area 2/'04 for $23,056 OTD. V-6, 5-speed, SR-5 Access cab. 91,000 miles as of 3/'23. I Completely standard. Seats are hard on the back, but I use a "McCarty" metal frame orthopedic seat and that fixed the problem. The manual gearchange is notchy, not as good as most others I've driven. First gear a bit higher than I like. I have driven it with the bed full of equipment and towing a Buick LeSabre and never felt underpowered. The 3.4 V-6 has adequate power and is very smooth. I average 20 mpg. No repairs, and never in snow and almost never in rain. I do my own maintenance and the truck has proven very inexpensive to own. It's beautifully made, in Gary, Indiana. I wish it had had the option of a 4-liter Diesel. A wonderful truck and great value for the money.

Great truck, just watch out for balljoints.
2004, purchased with 130,000 miles, now has 198,000, miles. Only major repair was ball joints. Watch out for those, that is this trucks only major Achilles heal. Consistently hauls its max or close each week in water, only for a short distance, but still. Pulled my 88' Toyota 40 miles on a two lane highway. Deserves the hype.

I love my Tundra which I have owned for 12 years and over 100,000 miles (now at 155,000 +). I just spent $2650 to get the frame repaired from corrosion. The area just forward of the leaf spring mounting has a plate mounted on the inside with rivets holding it to the main portion of the frame. This creates a space where water can remain and cause corrosion. My truck is babied and garage kept and still suffered this issue. I am an engineer and consider this issue a design problem. Toyoto should be ashamed of themselves. When I contacted them they refused to help because 10 years ago they recalled the truck, inspected it and recoated the problem areas. They should have advised owners to check, clean up and recoat this area yearly.

Worth It
Bought from original owner with 125k, for $14.5k, now 190k miles. Replaced throttle body at 150k. No other issues. It’s a bit of a ‘barge’ with the 4.6, however I trust the truck and it travels very comfortably.

Salesperson Lance had 35 yrs experience as a car salesman
Salesperson Lance had 35 yrs experience as a car salesman and was awesome. I highly recommend getting your next car at this dealership and ask for Lance. My wife and I purchased an RS Blazer with no hassle and very quick. Total transaction was less than 2.5hrs. Will go back if they have another vehicle that I’m interested in.
Purchased the 08 tundra 8 years ago with 141k miles.
Purchased the 08 tundra 8 years ago with 141k miles. Sitting at 243k now and it still drives the same as when I bought it. Other than maintenance & the things I wanted to add the Only thing I’ve replaced is the ac pump. For a half ton pickup I wouldn’t go with any other make. Would take it anywhere…tows and drives great while it still looks good going down the road!

Very Good. A nice sales person. Everyone was great The person that did the paperwork was also very knowledgeable. I would recommend these people to anyone looking for a car.
Just Gets It Done
I bought my 2006 Tundra new - ordered to spec. It has 200K on it with nothing more than basic maintenance. Poor beast has never had a garage - my lady's sedan always gets that honor. It has taken us across the country from duty station to duty station more times than I can count. It has towed everything from trailers to boats to sedans on trailers and has driven through every inclement weather from hurricanes to blizzards - and never let me down. Not flashy - just gets it done. I still laugh every time I see some bumptious wanna-be-tough guy in a new Dodge Ram driving fast in a parking lot. Ever notice how you don't see many old Dodge trucks - because most are junk 7 to 10 years after they roll off the line. Then notice how many 30 year old Toyotas you see on the road - quietly rolling along.

For a reliable truck, this is the BEST!
I bought my 2002 Tundra SR5 in February of 2020 with 197,000 miles on it. In the three years since then I have put 24,000 on it, and (not counting brakes/tires, normal wear parts), I have had no mechanical issues with it whatsoever. I changed the timing belt and water pump at 215,000. It pulled a double-axle Uhaul trailer through the the Ozark mountains with no issues ~ even passed a semi on an uphill climb. These trucks last forever and hold their value very well. My only real complaint is that on long trips the seats can get uncomfortable. That's really it. It is a simple, straightforward, and ultra-reliable truck. I will be buying another Tundra soon.

We were travelling through and had transmission problems.
We were travelling through and had transmission problems. The service department went went above and beyond to get our truck repaired and back on the road! Thank you!!
If you want reliability get a Toyota.
I had all the major USA manufacturers of 1/2 ton trucks, they were all junk. Rust was a huge problem, granted I live in the rust belt, but my Ram truck was rusting before the first 4 years of it's life with body rot, but because that rot didn't go all the way through the warranty would not cover it, it eventually did rot through about a year after the warranty expired; the Ford the frame rotted the worse followed by the body, the frame got so bad in just 10 years the vehicle had to be junked; the Chevy had a lot of body rot too but started about 4 years after the Ram did; all their transmissions failed within 110,000 miles. Numerous repairs starting about 60,000 miles. Now the my 5.7 flex fuel double cab Tundra SR5 4X4 is 15 years old and not a spot of rust, it has 118,000 miles and not one single repair. Maintenance cost about $340 a year for 2 oil changes and whatever other maintenance stuff comes up due to the mileage. It is the most comfortable riding truck I've ever owned but in all fairness all trucks have been improving their ride quality over the years. Performance is the best of any truck I've had by a lot; the MPG is also better than any truck I had before, my worse MPG I had was the Ford that got 6 mpg towing, otherwise it was 10 in the city and 14 on the highway, the Tundra in comparison gets 12 while towing, 16 in the city and 20 to 21 highway. The SR5 is a pretty much a basic pickup with very little in options, so the interior is not grandiose, but it's a truck not a limousine! The radio/CD player and speakers are also just the base stuff, so the sound is ok. Even though the interior is the low end stuff it's holding up extremely well, there is no wear showing on the seats or anywhere else. The exterior trim parts are all holding up extremely well. While Toyota Tundra does cost more in the used market, and that's because of their known reliability, it is more than worth the extra price I had to pay, it also means that if I sell the truck I'll get more for it. I use the truck for my business, and for hauling my RV trailer, and my friend's boat when we go fishing.

Best Truck Ever!
I bought this truck with 6K mile on it. It now has 265K and is as strong as the day I brought it home. I've owned a lot of vehicles, but this Tundra has been, by far, the most reliable, comfortable and easiest to maintain. Highly recommend this truck, from 2000-2006 range only.

02 4.7L Tundra IS a BEST of 1st generation!!
I absolutely love my truck , there were a few issues that having a friend do repairs wasn't quite the way I should've handled this experience. My truck has an interference engine which he has never heard of, therefore instead of taking all the tundra gurus ' advice from the experienced and knowledgeable,he just kept throwing parts at it in hopes to miraculously get it right. But unfortunately, due to my lack of funds and the only person I could get to work on my truck at no charge, it now sounds like a diesel, mpg is not up to par, performance power not as it was prior. Imo he changed a few things that were not necessary. The timing belt is a critical component, especially when you are running interference! I tried to point out the main factors in the upkeep to avoid destroying the engine but he basically ignored what I was explaining. A timing belt replacement sounds easy enough...... there's much more to it if you don't want to dismantle the engine repeatedly. Water pump, hoses, radiator, along with the belt, I may not have nentioned the full line up,the point is that everything component that is in junction with the belt may as well all be replaced at approximately 80-90,000 miles. The last thing you want is the belt to break while in use!!! Yep if it does, look for a new ,used or rebuild engine, the damage will be disastrous. What I like most having the interference engine is the performance in power, I love the power my tundra had. Had will be a has been ,I'm determined to have it all corrected by a toyota pro. I trust my 02 tundra to never leave me stranded, as it never has. I am at almost 300,000 miles. NEVER SKIMP ON FLUIDS, I am OEM all the way when it comes to parts beneath the hood,AND I only feed NON ETHANOL FUEL to my tundra. Another tip when replacing anything under the hood, best to change both. If you tear down to change gaskets, best bet is all at once save your time for taking trips in your tundra. The headlights could've been better factory quality but when it comes to smooth comfort,reliability,2002 toyota tundra sr5 4.7L is most definitely worth every penny, imo one of the best years of tundra , most definitely out of the first generation. My granddaughter says she wants my truck, by the time she's able to drive I may not . I have no doubt in my mind that this tundra could be on the road with her for at least 10 or more years. She is only 13.

My 2002 tundra limited access cab 4 door has 230,000 miles on it with just regular maintenance and hundreds of oil changes. Wears tires perfect and has never been aligned. Why buy a new truck when this one will last me probably till I DIE.

Thanks Jared for taking care of us
We stopped the Corwin Lot a few weeks ago looking for an AWD vehicle with some extra space. Jared showed us a nicely finished Traverse with low miles. We were on our way home 170 miles away and told Jared we'd think about it for awhile. Jared kept in contact w/o any pressure just to see if we had any questions or if we were interested in something different. After some clarification we agreed on a price and that we'd pick it up on the day before Thanksgiving. We bought it "as is" w/o warranty. Later that evening, when the instrument cluster is well lit, we noticed a check engine light was on and then later the Auto-Start failed to work. I stopped by Fri morning to see Jared, and he took it for a drive and just told me to sit back and have some coffee while he looked into it. Despite being a very busy post-holiday Friday he got it right into the shop w/o an appt and they dug into the issue and repaired it right away and covered the whole cost of labor and parts. We're happy with the car and the great service we received from Jared and the Corwin team to get this issue resolved. Mark & Nancy
What a Beast
Bought new in '08. The price was near the top of the new truck scale, but I understood after years and years of claiming "The Truck of the Year" accolades. For 14 years now, I understand exactly why. She is an incredible beast. Power and get up that responds near instantly and very forcibly. I have EASILY hauled 2500+ pavers and equipment, and towed over 15K in landscape vehicles. Never an issue. Even though I have to get a 4x4 for very remote recreational location, I have made a dozen trips in my Tundra and the traction control and anti-slip have gotten me in and out with no problem. The TRD package is extremely nice. In closing, just have to write; she is an incredible truck.

Great Tundra to date
Purchased new 2011 2WD 4.6L. 135K miles to date with absolutely no problems...Tow 5,800 boat which it struggles to maintain 65 mph. Non-towing highway 21 mpg, city 18.5 mpg calculated. Towing mpg 11.5. Bed interior paint is starting to peel. Truck is not garaged but washed weekly and waxed 4 times per year. Will buy another this year to get the 5.7 V8 rather than a Turbo 3.5 .

2nd tundra
I bought the 05 because it had all the options I wanted and low mileage. I paid a little more than I had planned. I also own an 01 tundra. The 05 drives more like a car than a truck. Both vehicles are V8/4x4. The newer ones (2nd gen) are too big in my opinion. It's gonna be hard to part w/the 01.
