KDSS problems
Love my 4Runner but the only thing wrong with it is the KDSS problems that no one knows how to fix. Light comes on in the winter and starts leaking. Dealer replaced it once and they paid the $4, 000.00 because it was the first time that they had seen this. Now it almost winter and the lights coming back on. - Purchased a New car

This is the BAR!
Two reviews below clearly doesn’t understand how having a FRAME instead of a unibody means. Take your Ford Exploder, Honda pile, Jeep Grandcrappy and flush them where they belong. The 4runner has Solid rear axle, IFS with upper and lower control arms, and a real transfer case with low range. If you are looking to stay on the pavement and pay out the wazzoo for suspension repairs if you do hit the dirt. Then go ahead and buy those “cheaper” SUV’s. If you want a true and classic SUV the way they were first built, then the 4Runner is for you. Good factory ground clearance, yet can cruise to ANY destination. Yeah that’s why we defend these. That’s why they hold there value. That’s why there nothing else on the market that can compete. I hit dirt roads every day and sometimes I can’t tell if I’m on pavement or dirt. Super smooth suspension and dependability you won’t find in any other vehicle in its class. I’ll give a wave as I pass you on the beach while your buried in the sand. You will regret buying any other so called truck. - Purchased a Used car

Technologies are a bit behind other same year SUV'
Typical reliable Toyota vehicle. The only problem I encounter is the braking system. of my last 4 suv's, 2 of them being 4runners, I have always got 100,000 miles out of my front pads. I'm on my second set on my 2018 with only 50,000 miles. I think the calibers on the newer models are defective actually. They just don't feel right. - Purchased a New car

Why I just don’t get why people defend this thing
I don’t know why people like this thing so much the fuel mileage sucks it won’t get out of its own way and has no power and then they want 44 thousand for it and people defend this thing like it is the greatest thing ever and don’t blame the weight the Explorer weighs almost exactly the same and has a smaller 3.5 liter engine but it gets up and goes just fine and 23 mpg best this thing can do maybe 19 at best if you ever get there slowest piece of junk I have ever driven my 84 Toyota 22r would run faster than this junk - Purchased a Used car

Best Driving Experience Ever!
I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my beloved 2003 4Runner with 230k miles that was pretty much bullet-proof and running smooth as ever. I am blown away by the refinements and improvements that have been made over the past 18 years. I bought this used 2018 4 Runner SR5 Premium that was a lease and well-maintained. The ride is exceptionally smooth and almost calming due to the comfortability of the interior design. I already know from experience what to expect regarding reliability, so hopefully I can get another 10+ years out of my new favorite vehicle! - Purchased a Used car

Held Value Really Well
I traded this one last week with 93,400 miles I put a ton of miles on it in a short period of time and never had any problems. I got more than what was owed on it on a trade in. The only reason I traded it in was because I missed having a truck and being able to haul things in the bed. The towing on this one is just as capable as a truck. I towed the biggest Uhaul trailer from College Station to Houston and it did fantastic. Super comfortable ride and reliable vehicle. - Purchased a New car

Really Don't Like it
I'm clearly not Toyota's target buyer. My wife and I bought this car as the styling of it if very attractive and the re-sell value appeared to be incredible. It all ends there. This thing is otherwise, a terd. The engine is gutless by the measure of every other modern SUV. It makes a tremendous amount of noise in the process of accelerating and uses an lot of gas in the process. We have achieved an underwhelming 19 MPG highway and average about 17 mpg. Once it's time to stop, that's garbage too. The shocks are way too weak and under-damped. The nose of the vehicle dives with the slightest braking. Very annoying and makes for poor handling while braking. The rotors warped at 35,000 miles and required new ones. The nice part of this was finding drilled slotted aftermarket rotors was inexpensive and a fairly easy task. It's not all bad. We're looking to trade this in now and I'm shocked at how well it has held it's value. We've been offered $2k less that we paid for it new in trade in. Not sure why anyone would buy a used one but I'm glad to come out ahead. If you want reliability and good resale, this is your vehicle. If you care about virtually anything else, keep looking. This thing is just a dressed up 2003 with a touchscreen stereo. - Purchased a New car
