Have had our 2023 Highlander XLE AWD since April 2023.
Have had our 2023 Highlander XLE AWD since April 2023. Live in Chicago area and have driven to Arizona and Maine. Zero problems with the car. We put a large Thule box on the roof, multiple mountain bikes on a bike carrier and a kayak. Lots of luggage, got 27 miles per gallon on both trips. Plenty of power in the Rocky Mountains. Would recommend the car to others. We have a great Toyota dealership but all we have needed is schedule maintenance. - Purchased a New car

Engine lags, poor acceleration, small cramped interior.
Engine lags, poor acceleration, small cramped interior. Poor fuel efficiency, Suburban was getting the same mpg. Blah styling and disappointing handling. Not sure how this car will be able to tow anything. Bluetooth may or may not connect. Fuel light will not turn on until there is 10 miles left in the tank!! Bought this car off of brand reputation. Very disappointed!! My advice RUN Far away fast!! - Purchased a New car

I waited months, purposely, before writing this review.
I waited months, purposely, before writing this review. When I initially bought the car, I was scared because the reviews made it seem as if I made the worst mistake of my life. 6 months, 7000 miles later, the car running great. In the beginning, there was the weird shifting and lag but as time went on, around 5000 miles it had mostly smoothed out. After I took it for the TSB/Recall for a software update, it has been running perfectly since, no lag or strange shifting at all. I haven’t had any trouble otherwise. It’s roomy and comfortable for long trips. The third row is really for short trips(no more than 1hr 1/2) and for people 5’8 and under. The MPG excels on the highway especially on ECO mode with cruise control. I’ve gotten it as high as 33/34 mpg at 70mph on relatively flat land. In the city, it does terrible. I average around 17-19 even with slowly accelerations. My DTE is 290-310miles, 95% City driving. I’m sure those who use it on the highway will reach much higher. Despite the new 4 Cylinder Turbo, it has quite a bit of power and was able to take off very fast with a car loaded with adults (even in the third row). As of right now, the engine has been nothing but reliable. If anything changes, I’ll surely come back and edit this review. But for now, this 23 Highlander Limited Non-Hybrid, is a fantastic mid-size SUV and I recommend it now with the software update taking care of the shifting problem. - Purchased a New car

We will not recommend this SUV, at 19k miles we are
We will not recommend this SUV, at 19k miles we are having a problem with heavy vibrations and too much shaking (rotor & break pads are messed up) as per dealership, we also smell the gasoline outside (we paid $250 for the check up) Our vehicle’s warranty still good but they will not shoulder this kind of problems. Our 2012 BMW X5 and 2007 Lexus Es350 are way more better- NO headaches! - Purchased a New car

The infotainment system is awful.
The infotainment system is awful. It locks up and freezes. It continually ask to put in code. It has poor interconnection with apple CarPlay. It has been to the dealer three times but can't seem to fix and won't replace the system. Gas mileage is good and the turbo four cylinder performs nicely so far. - Purchased a Used car

2023 Highlander bought in June 2023 by September 2023 it
2023 Highlander bought in June 2023 by September 2023 it was back in the dealership because the air conditioner was leaking inside the car under the carpet making it smell, moldy had to get new air conditioner put back in the car after picking it up from the dealership, the pre-collision warning system came on had to bring it back to the dealership again. At 14,000 miles the rotors needed resurfaced now having to take the car back to the dealership because the brakes scrub when you apply the brake and the passenger airbag light is flashing locked nonstop! I would NOT recommend this car!! The amount of money you pay for cars they shouldn’t have multiple issues. - Does not recommend

The 23 Highlander was a replacement for a 20 model.
The 23 Highlander was a replacement for a 20 model. From a routine driving standpoint, the ride, handling and general performance are not dramatically different other than one critical issue. The 23 is a 4 cylinder turbo that is rated by Toyota to use 87 octane fuel. Wrong - this new engine stumbles and hesitates unless using 89 octane and only performs well on 93 octane. I'm a disappointed and this is the only Toyota (of 8) that I really feel like the is not what is expected from a manufacturer known for quality design and reliability. - Does not recommend

We own a 2.
We own a 2.4 Turbo XSE, has plenty of power to get you in and out of traffic. Just took a 10 hour road trip from NC through the mountains of VA & WV, performed like a champ up steep inclines and ride was very comfortable. We really like the captain chairs, easy to get passengers (inlaws) in and out. Had plenty of room for a wheelchair with 3rd row folded down. Really like the sporty look of Highlander. The 20" black rims compliment the look for me. I wish Toyota would've designed with dual exhaust to better enhance the design. - Does recommend

Great vehicle!
Have had 2 Toyota Rav Limiteds and they were great. Decided to go with something a little bigger this time so got a preowned 2023 Highlander Limited. Love the ride, quieter than the Rav 4 and definitely more room. It’s only 3 inches wider, but 10 inches longer. Seems like the front area is quite a bit bigger than the Rav. Awful car
The engine is awful. Has no power. It doesn't change gears quickly. It's also a very noisy engine and makes terrible noises when accelerating. I would stay far far away from this car - Purchased a New car
