The GX 460 is a reliable enigma.
You can’t question Lexus’ reliability. The GX 460 is one of the most reliable vehicles on the planet They have been producing the same model since 2010. It should be reliable. But it is also very dated. They should have introduced a revised and newer model halfway into its 14 year run. The gas mileage is bad (19 hwy & 15 city). The 6 speed transmission and V8 are probably to blame. The transmission may be durable for off roading, but I wouldn’t mind having a 10 speed transmission. Also, the transmission shift too quickly from first to second gear, making the 5300lb GX feel lethargic. It is probably an attempt to save gas. I wish there was a sport mode for the transmission. So, the GX would feel sporty and athletic. That one of the reasons I wanted a V8. I wish it had blue tooth compatible Apple Car Play and a wireless phone charger. I also wish it had dual exhaust for its V8. - Purchased a New car

Rock Solid
I love the truck capability combined with first class comfort. My GX has everything I need, and nothing I don’t. Long term value, combined with old school charm is hard to beat. Where else can you find a school bus mirror combined with sun glass holder? My third Lexus and will not be my last. - Purchased a New car

A great choice
Beautiful fit and finish on this car. Smooth and quiet on the road. Sport package with the captain's chairs and the 19" tires is really a nice option. All the latest safety features and technology. Love this vehicle. - Purchased a New car

It’s a Lexus, and one of the best!
Our fifth Lexus, the second 460 GX. It’s a Lexus, and one of the reasons that Toyota is the largest selling auto manufacturer on earth. - Purchased a New car

The GX does almost everything right.
Overall, I love my GX. Its exterior styling is aggressive and unique. The interior is conservative, yet luxurious. I appreciate that it doesn’t have the auto start-stop feature that all the other vehicles have. I don’t miss it! The V8 is silky smooth. It is very quiet when maintaining a speed. But when accelerating, the V8 is like music to your ears. Regarding the negative traits, it is a gas guzzler (19hwy/15city). Considering it has a 4.6 liter, normallly aspirated V8, it is sluggish. It has 301 hp/329 ft-lbs of torque. The 0-60 is listed as 7.2 seconds. The throttle isn’t responsive for the first 50% of input. The second 50% of input is where you get the response. But it comes with the drama of the downshifting and V8 roar. There is no good reason why this engine and transmission can’t perform better and more linear. It has a 6 speed transmission. If it had an 8-10 speed, it would more than likely help with the performance and fuel economy. If it had a fully independent suspension it would improve the handling. The controversial rear side-hinged cargo door takes some getting used to. Why they didn’t design it with a hatch is anyone’s guess. I was aware of everything I stated and I still chose to lease it. I have no regrets. It is a good and solid SUV with an excellent reliability record. It holds its resale value. It does more things right than wrong. I recommend it. - Purchased a New car
