(upbeat music) Hi, I'm Mike Hanley with cars.com. We're here at the Los Angeles Auto Show with the 2010 Ford Mustang.
With the muscle car wars ready to heat up with the introduction of the Dodge Challenger and the upcoming Chevy Camaro, Ford's taken the opportunity to re-design its Mustang for 2010. This model goes on sale in spring 2009 and receives a new exterior styling, and also a new interior. Let me take you through some of the changes to this model. With the re-design of the Mustang, the car actually lose some of its retro styling cues that the previous one had. Changes include a new power-dome hood, new fenders, and actually a shorter grill. It looks a little bit like the grill got compressed compared to the old model. There are also a number of new wheel choices that the car can have. Overall, the car retains the look of the previous model, but it gets a number of significant updates. The back of the Mustang also gets updates. You can see it has new tail-lights design right here that aren't quite as rectangular as the previous models. They also have LED lighting elements. In addition, the Mustang can also have a rear-view camera. You can see it right here. If you want that assistance, you can get that in this car. As before, the Mustang is offered with a base V6 engine or an optional 4.6-liter V8. The V8 makes more horsepower for 2010 thanks to a cold-air induction system you see on this model. It's now rated at 315 horsepower. That's a 15-horsepower jump compared to the old model. It's available with manual and automatic transmissions. What stays the same is the live axle in this car, which is somewhat of an outdated design for a sports car, but the Mustang still uses that for the rear suspension. The Mustang looks really nice in person, but it's still low on the horsepower totem pole compared to the Challenger and Camaro. That may change though, because Ford says they'll have more Mustang announcements at the Detroit Auto Show in January. <v Narrator>For additional information on this car or any other, go to cars.com, and our blog, Kicking Tires.
