(rock music) <v Announcer>Cars.com Auto Review. Hi, I'm Joe Wiesenfelder with cars.com. We're taking a first look at the redesign 2012 Audi A6 sedan. I've been a big fan of Audi styling for a long time. I think they have really handsome designs.
If there's a complaint or maybe more of a concern, it's that they're starting to look a little bit too alike. If you view them from the front, they look a little inbred, you might say. The new A6 doesn't do a whole lot to change that; actually it still has the plunging grill and these complex headlights that Audi is known for. Keep getting more complex. They're also more squat. This one is available with led headlights as well as the running lights. Now just so you know, even though we love the look of these wheels, they might just be for the auto show. Audi hasn't committed yet if they will be available to consumers to buy. Another interesting element here. The taillights really kind of hang out overhang this depression here; they stand proud of it. And it's not a new approach for Audi. They've done it in other cars, but it really seems to be extending much farther than it does on the others. As we've come to expect from Audi, the interior is beautiful. Lots of real aluminum's and piano black trim, stuff like that. A new addition is this enormous LCD screen. It's as big as eight inches diagonally, depending on which version you get. And what I like about it is aside from the fact that it motors out, it does it pretty smoothly. It's high enough there'd be just off your line of sight without being so high that it blocks your view. I'm a little disappointed in the backseat, even though I have plenty of headroom and my knees aren't touching the seat rest. I have this raised knee situation. The seat is pretty low to the floor. We'll be providing more details as we get them, but we can tell you, for now, the A6 is going to come with gas engines. Diesel engines are not necessarily all at the beginning. And then there's the possibility of an A6 hybrid, which Audi has developed and is selling overseas. Obviously, it would be nice to have the higher efficiency. I figure in this country hybrids are huge. They've got to bring it. <v Announcer>For more car-related news, go to cars.com or our blog kicking tires.net.
