(exciting music) <v Announcer>Cars.com Auto Review. Hi, I'm Kelsey Mays for cars.com. We're on the eve of the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. Checking out the restyled 2012 Volkswagen EOS. This is Volkswagen's hardtop, four seat convertible.
We'll show you what's new for 2012. No longer do you have the plunging grill that sort of united the grill and the front air dam. This is the new sort of face of Volkswagen. You've seen it on other cars here, and it's got these three sort of black slats here in a very distinct, different, lower air dam. It's a more masculine look and Volkswagen suspects that it's gonna attract more male buyers perhaps to this car, which has been overwhelmingly female with it's buyer base. The headlights, traditional halogen lights right here. Now on some of the photos of this car we've seen, they have LED lights that kind of encircle the headlights. That's just on the European model. On the US model, we're just gonna have halogen. Although I talked to a product planner and they said that they're gonna kinda feel out the water and if people really want LEDs, they'll bring them here too. Not a whole lot's changed about the interior. You've got new sun reflective leather, new steering wheel and new climate controls. Overall stays pretty much the same. The five-piece convertible hard top. Now that works in about 25 seconds Volkswagen says, and it's got this kind of cool sunroof feature that can also be moved back. Cargo volume, pretty good. About 10 and a half cubic feet with the top up, that's more than bigger seeming cars like the Ford Mustang convertible. Speaking of which this car does look more masculine. It doesn't exactly look like the new Mustang, but it certainly seems to be ready to attract more male buyers, which is what Volkswagen aims to do. Check it out when it comes to dealers in February. <v Announcer>For more car related news, go to cars.com or our blog kickingtires.net.
