Video: 2017 Jaguar XE

A compact sports sedan that takes on cars like the BMW three series, the Audi A4, the Mercedes-Benz C class, and I got to say a lot like the three series, the XE is certainly a driver's choice. Immediate visceral thing that kind of hits you after driving this car on a quick few laps around this course here, is the chassis dynamics. Very, very lively, very easy to rotate. Tail kind of kicks out a few degrees if you're coming through a corner. The nose, really doesn't push at all, very easy. Quick steering grade, light steering. Really makes it an enjoyable car to kind of whip around quick corners, to rotate, to get a little bit of a drift going, and then reel it back in. It's not really uncontrollable. It doesn't really want to switch ends on you. Now, how about power? Well, these cars here are all the 35 T versions of the car. That means there's a three liter, supercharged, V6 engine gear, it's Jaguar's staple engine. It uses it in a lot of other vehicles. Lots of power from the get-go. HP automatic transmission, still not our favorite. We really liked Jaguar's old six speed, automatic better, but pretty good unit in this car. It downshifts pretty quickly. It doesn't kind of mix up gears as you're going into a corner. Now there's also a turbocharged four cylinder, as well as a diesel option available. All of these will be available once the new XE goes on sale. This may a couple of drawbacks. A little bit of a tight cabinet in terms of headroom and maybe some lower grade materials versus a, certainly that C class, the three series as well, but overall, not too bad of a driver's choice again, in this segment, if you want one, it goes on sale pretty soon.
