Volvo's redesigned full-size SUV beat out other competitors with its stunning looks, impressive power and innovative multimedia system. The Cars.com editorial team crowned the XC90 our Best of 2016 and we bought one to test for a year.

All those redesigned XC 90 is quite simply a stunning SUV, a tour de force of styling technology, utility, and drivability. All of it executed extremely well.
We were so impressed with the new XC 90 that we gave it our top award, naming the SUV, cars.com best of 2016 car. As we do every year, we decided to put our money where our mouth is and buy one of these. Now, when we set out to buy an XC 90, dealers only had the T6 version. That meant standard all wheel drive and a four cylinder engine, that's both supercharged and turbocharged for a scout 316 horsepower and pretty decent EPA estimated 22 miles per gallon combined. Now the T6 comes in three trim levels from lowest to highest momentum, or design and inscription. The available air suspension optional on all three. So we wanted a momentum with the air suspension and a few other options. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a bit of a needle in a haystack. There weren't that many on sale to begin with. And the very, very few with air suspensions were all our design or inscription versions. Ultimately, we ended up with this metallic white XC 90 inscription, fairly well equipped with the optional air suspension, a convenience package with some driver assistance features a vision package with more cameras, blind spot warning system and more. A few other options, including Apple CarPlay, Bowers and Wilkins premium audio and optional 21 inch wheels. We'll own this XC 90 for an entire year and tell you all about it.
