10 Biggest News Stories of the Month: Genesis GV80 Too Much for Cadillac Escalade
Variety is the spice of life, and when it comes to the 2026 Genesis GV80, spice comes at a price. The mid-size SUV from Hyundai’s luxury brand adds a new drivetrain option, among other things. We cover it all in our pricing breakdown of the latest-model-year GV80, one of Cars.com’s most popular news stories of the past month.

The new base trim level gets rear-wheel drive, a choice that’ll save buyers over $2,000 … so long as they’re only comparing the entry-level price to the 2026 lineup and not 2025. Due to an across-the-board price increase for the new model year, even the most modestly priced 2026 GV80 will still set you back $500 more than the bargain-basement all-wheel-drive variant from 2025. Additionally, buyers of the top two trim levels will now be able to opt for a third row with either the 300-horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or the 375-hp, twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6, as opposed to seating for seven only being an option on the latter powertrain. Including a destination charge, the base 2.5T starts at $59,195 and rises incrementally across the Select, Advanced and Prestige trims to just under 75 grand, while the 3.5T Advanced starts at $77,445 and goes up with the Prestige and range-topping Prestige Black to a high of $85,395. We covered the coupe variant’s specifics separately, but its price ranges from $83,345 to $91,545 across three trims.

Elsewhere on the luxury SUV front, Cars.com reviewer Aaron Bragman’s comprehensive critique of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade’s all-new performance-oriented V trim also performed big with readers. The latest Escalade gets sleekly updated front-end styling and an entirely overhauled interior (including an eye-popping port-to-starboard-spanning digital dash display), in addition to a swole engine setup for the V — boasting a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that cranks out a massive 682 hp and 653 pounds-feet of torque. Quick note: At a starting price of just under $165,000, the thrill of the V’s pumped-up powertrain will drain your bank account faster than its reported 4.4-second 0-60-mph sprint — nearly 75 grand more than the entry-level Escalade.
“The styling updates look good, and the new screens are impressive, but the 2025 Escalade takes a step back in terms of interior plastics and trim quality, which don’t keep pace with its ever-increasing price tag,” Bragman summarizes in his review.
