10 Biggest News Stories of the Week: Tesla Model Y, Model 3 Zero Out Chevrolet Corvette

In the competitive field of automotive sales, typically strong performer Tesla just put up a big, fat goose egg — which should help the electric automaker move even more of its big-selling Model Y and Model 3. Tesla announced a 0% interest deal on the Model 3 compact sedan and Model Y compact SUV. It’s an enticing offer for anyone shopping for one of the popular electric vehicles, which start between $42,000 and $45,000, respectively, as reported in Cars.com’s most popular news story of the past week.

The interest-free incentive comes with some stipulations, of course. Tesla requires that you be a “well-qualified” buyer with “excellent credit,” take delivery by Dec. 31 and make a 20% minimum down payment. The loan term is limited to 36 months for the Model 3 and 60 months for the Model Y. This 0% financing deal is a money-saving opportunity for those who don’t wish to wait and see if Tesla actually launches a new entry-level-priced EV by 2025, as has been reported.

In other relative bargains, for shoppers in the market for something fast and frugal, pricing is out for the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette — and it still starts under 70 grand by enough that you can drive over to Starbucks with the difference and buy a venti drip to put in the cupholder. The base Stingray model starts at just $69,995, but jumps by nearly $44,000 for the current range-topping Z06, which starts just under $114,000; the E-Ray lands in between at just under $109,000 (all prices include a $1,695 destination charge). We won’t know the cost of the new-for-2025 ZR1 — speeding toward an arrival next year at an estimated 233 mph to take its place at the top of the lineup in both performance and price — until closer to launch.
