176,000-Plus Honda Civics Recalled for Steering Racks
The latest recall from Honda features one of its most popular models, the Civic. Some 176,400 sedans and hatchbacks are being recalled over incorrect assembly of their steering racks.

Affected cars include model-year 2022-24 Civic sedans and hatchbacks that received a replacement power steering rack as part of a service repair. The incorrect assembly can allow the tire to chafe against the lower suspension or tie rod end, possibly resulting in tire damage; enough damage can lead to a tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect and replace the power steering rack, as necessary, for free. Honda will begin notifying owners Dec. 4, but those with further questions in the meantime can call the automaker at 888-234-2138 (Honda’s number for this recall is YFW), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
