In Part 2 of our comparison Kelsey and Mike tackle the trucks from the inside.

Interior

Mike: While the Sport Trac interior has an industrial look to it — and quite possibly the biggest console shifter on the planet — the Avalanche LTZ’s cabin (above) has the feel of a luxury car and uses materials that have a high-quality appearance. I thought the Sport Trac’s seats were more comfortable than the Avalanche’s, which lacked the support of the Sport Trac’s firmer buckets.

Kelsey: The Sport Trac’s truckish confines make it easier to sneak a peek at navigation or climate controls (above), while the Avalanche’s low dashboard turns simple radio adjustments into a chore. Beyond that, Mike’s assessment is spot-on: The Chevy’s cabin is upscale and modern, while the Ford feels circa 2002. Even the navigation systems are telling; the Sport Trac’s guide unsuccessfully attempts to pronounce streets, butchering routes from Hillsboro to Barrington with robotic proficiency. The Avalanche’s system issues name-free directions with drill-sergeant authority; in comparison, it’s a far superior setup.
