2009-2012 Ram 1500: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 270,200 model-year 2009-12 Ram 1500 pickup trucks that are, or have been, registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin and West Virginia

The Problem: A fuel-tank bracket may corrode and cause the fuel tank to sag, which could cause a fuel leak or fire, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Ram automaker Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said its testing indicates the remaining structural components would help prevent separation, adding that it is unaware of any related accifdents or injuries.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the fuel-tank bracket for free.

What Owners Should Do: FCA did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the manufacturer at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
