2009 BMW Z4 Pricing Announced

In a word: Power. The 2009 model comes with 258 hp and hits 60 mph in a cool 5.8 seconds (compared to the 215-hp starter engine on the ’08). A power-retractable hardtop is the other major difference, which would also predictably raise the price. Leather seats are standard. The twin-turbo Z4 sDrive35i ratchets up both the price tag ($51,650) and the ponies (306 hp). Not coincidentally, the new Z4’s price puts it right in line with the Porsche Boxster.

Buyers will have their work cut out for them once they get into the byzantine options on the new Z4, which include a Premium Package and a Sport Package. The Premium Package costs $3,900, unless you also get the Sport Package for $2,300, in which case the Premium will only cost $2,800. Confused? Hang on, because you’ll still have to immediately decide whether or not to purchase a $1,200 Tire and Wheel Package.
