With the 2012 Volkswagen Passat, the German automaker has taken a page from its Japanese competition by catering more to American tastes. Unlike the previous model, the new Passat is built large and more affordable. While there is some cheapening of the interior, the overall design is sharp and clean, according to Cars.com editor Kelsey Mays. Volkswagen has clearly done its research with this vehicle, but can it really take on a segment led by Accord, Camry and now Sonata?
