Cargo space is at a premium; we have only two small suitcases and two backpacks, and the space behind the second row is pretty much all used up.

Of course, that’s not what the Volt was built for. It was built for city driving and commuting with an occasional road trip thrown in the mix.

Before we headed out, the Volt drove well around Los Angeles. Acceleration from a stop was never a problem, and we managed around 33 miles on battery power before the generator kicked in. We watched that switch-over on the Volt’s LCD screen like it was New Year’s Eve, but the transition was seamless. There was no sound or motion or any other indicator that a change in power systems had occurred.

We’re about to head back out for our second day of the trip, so shoot us any questions you may have below.
