Vehicles Affected: Approximately 1,120 model-year 2012 Nissan Versa hatchbacks that were sold or ever registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin

The Problem: Road salt may corrode and fracture the front coil springs, which could contact and puncture the tire, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will replace both front coil springs, as necessary, for free.

What Owners Should Do: Nissan will begin notifying owners Nov. 27. Owners can call the automaker at 800-647-7261, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
