2013-2015 Kia Optima, Sorento: Recall Alert
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 440,400 model-year 2013-15 Kia Optima sedans and model-year 2014-15 Sorento SUVs
The Problem: The brake fluid may leak inside the hydraulic electronic control unit, possibly resulting in an electrical short and increasing the risk of an engine compartment fire.
The Fix: Dealers will inspect the control unit for leaking brake fluid and replace it, as necessary, for free.
What Owners Should Do: Kia will begin notifying owners Oct. 15. Owners can call the autommaker at 800-333-4542, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
