2015-18 Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 488,600 model-year 2015-18 Ford Edge and model-year 2016-18 Lincoln MKX SUVs

The Problem: Front brake jounce hoses could rupture, causing a progressive brake fluid leak. If the brake fluid reservoir is depleted below a certain level, the brake fluid warning indicator light will illuminate, which could increase brake pedal travel that, together with a reduction in the rate of deceleration, increases the risk of a crash.

Lincoln manufacturer Ford said it is not aware of any reports of accidents or injury related to this condition.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the front brake jounce hoses with new hoses that have a revised braid material for free.

What Owners Should Do: Ford did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the autommaker at 866-436-7332, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
