The problem: Affected vehicles may exhibit a condition where, when the transmission downshifts on a grade while using cruise control, the engine will will flare, or race up, canceling the cruise control without the driver’s input. This may be due to a software glitch in the transmission control module software.
Corrective action: On affected vehicles, dealers will update the transmission control module software.
Warranty info: This service bulletin is being performed free of charge under the Subaru new-vehicle or powertrain warranty, whichever applies.
