Vehicles Affected: Approximately 2,700 model-year 2018 Jeep Compass SUVs
The Problem: The front lower control arms may be incorrectly welded, potentially resulting in a control-arm separation and a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the front lower control arms for free.
What Owners Should Do: Jeep manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will begin notifying owners June 20. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit NHTSA’s website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
