We encountered myriad issues in our time with our long-term 2021 Ford F-150 test vehicle, among them being issues with our windshield wipers. Unfortunately, the wipers are proving to be a problematic component for the truck — it’s the root cause for the automaker’s latest recall for its most popular model.
Affected vehicles include more than 222,000 model-year 2021 F-150s, and it expands on a previous recall from April 2022. The windshield wiper arms may break, causing the wipers to fail. The ensuing reduced visibility in certain conditions can increase the risk of a crash.
The solution for owners is simple: Dealers will simply inspect and replace the wiper arms, as necessary, for free. Ford will begin notifying owners March 27, but those with further questions can call Ford at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 23S10), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
