The 2021 Lexus IS sedan will make its virtual debut on Monday after the automaker “respectfully postponed” its original June 9 reveal. We still don’t know much about the new sedan ahead of the debut, however.

Besides a new set of taillights that extend across the entire rear of the sedan, the only bit of new information is that the F Sport version will likely have Bridgestone Potenza tires. Those tires come in both summer and all-season variants, and it’s unclear whether the F Sport will be offered with one or both flavors of rubber.

The current generation of IS has fallen behind many of its competitors and finished last in our most recent comparison test of the class back in 2017. Since then, BMW has redesigned the 3 Series, Cadillac has replaced the ATS with the CT4 and Genesis has joined the party with the excellent G70 — so what we’re saying here is that the IS is due for a major overhaul.

Currently, the IS is available in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The RWD IS 300 is powered by a 241-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, while the AWD version gets a 260-hp, 3.5-liter V-6. Both RWD and AWD versions of the IS 350 get a 311-hp, 3.5-liter V-6. There’s no word yet on whether the engines or transmission will carry over to the new model.

Stay tuned for all the latest news about the new Lexus IS when it debuts June 15.
