2020 Genesis G70 review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2020 Genesis G70?

The Genesis G70 is a five-seat compact luxury sports sedan that comes with a choice of two turbocharged engines. It’s offered with rear- or all-wheel drive and a manual or automatic transmission. Competitors include established models like the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

What’s New on the 2020 Genesis G70?

A power-operated trunk lid is now available on models with the twin-turbocharged V-6 engine. Meanwhile, all-season tires are now available with the 19-inch wheels, and performance brakes are available on the 2.0T Sport version.

What Features in the 2020 Genesis G70 Are Most Important?

The G70’s available 365-horsepower, twin-turbo 3.3-liter V-6 really ups the sedan’s acceleration, and available all-wheel drive is an important selling point in certain parts of the country. An 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity is standard.

Standard active safety features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, lane keep assist and a driver attention monitor.

Should I Buy the 2020 Genesis G70?

The Genesis G70 might not have the name recognition of some rivals, but that shouldn’t stop it from earning a place on any sports sedan shopping list. This is a fun-to-drive car that’s brimming with value, and we gave it our Best of 2019 award. The G70 also comes with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. The backseat and trunk, however, are small.

Cosmetic issues

Overall performance great but when it's comes to the bronze and chrome finishes on my 2020 G70 AWD, I'm very disappointed with the quality of the product. The bronze on the front grill are peeling off and the windows chrome finishes are fading away. Very disappointed with the quality of the product.

I love my car!

I really love all the safety features and the speed. It is really fun to drive, cool looking and fast. The only negative is the miles per gallon, but everything else makes up for it.

Why buy a BMW?

I have owned 5 BMW's. My G70 V6 Sport equals or surpasses my BMW's. Luxurious, fast, great handling, comfortable, totally reliable and an incredible bargain. With the sole exception of my C7 Z51 Corvette, best car I have ever owned. Back seat a little tight and mileage around town not great, but fr outweighed by all the car's virtues.
