Kia has announced full pricing and trim details for the 2024 EV9, the automaker’s upcoming three-row electric SUV that’s roughly the same size as its popular mid-size Telluride. Until now, Kia had only stated the EV9’s base price without its destination charge; now we know that the SUV will have a base price of $56,395 (including a $1,495 destination fee) when it arrives late in 2023.

Trim Levels and Powertrain Specs

In total, the EV9 will be available in four trims and have a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive, two battery pack sizes, and anywhere from 201 to 379 horsepower depending on the powertrain.

Starting with the entry-level, rear-wheel-drive EV9 Light, shoppers get standard features like 19-inch wheels, seating for up to seven, heated and ventilated front seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual 12.3-inch screens, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless device charging. Interestingly, between the two screens is a 5-inch panel dedicated to climate controls. This could alleviate a common complaint that frequently used controls, particularly those related to cabin temperature, are distracting when done by layered touchscreen menus.

Getting the Light down the road is a 76.1-kilowatt-hour battery and a single electric motor that sends 215 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque to the rear wheels. Opting for the Light Long Range adds a larger 99.8-kWh battery that increases range, though engine output dips to 201 hp. The Light Long Range also allows for a choice of a second-row bench seat or dual captain’s chairs.

Upper trims include the Wind, Land and GT-Line. Each is equipped with the larger battery pack and two electric motors that send power to all four wheels. Both the Wind and Land trims have a total of 379 hp and 443 pounds-feet of torque; in the sporty GT-Line, horsepower remains the same but torque is bumped up to 516 pounds-feet.

DC fast charging using an 11-kilowatt charger and 800-volt architecture is standard on all trims. Using this tech, Kia says recharging from 10% to 80% takes less than 25 minutes. Total range across the EV9 lineup is still not known, however, with official EPA-estimated figures to be released closer to the SUV’s on-sale date.

We do know that like the EV9’s the gas-fed Telluride stablemate, this electric SUV can be decked out with a wide array of extras. Available features include 20- or 21-inch wheels, a 14-speaker Meridian audio system, reclining seats with built-in footrests and a surround-view parking camera. An available towing package provides a max towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.
