Subaru thoroughly redesigned its BRZ sports car for the 2022 model year with freshened styling, a more powerful engine and updated interior tech. For 2024, the BRZ is further refined with more standard safety tech and the return of the tS trim level, which features upgraded brakes and suspension.

What’s New?
Subaru’s EyeSight advanced driver-assist suite was already standard on BRZs equipped with an automatic transmission, but for 2024, it’s standard across the line, even on cars with a manual transmission. EyeSight includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and lead vehicle start alert, which tells the driver that the vehicle ahead has moved at least 10 feet.
The more focused tS trim returns to the BRZ lineup for 2024. It gets Brembo brakes featuring larger rotors and pads and gold-painted calipers with four pistons in the front and two in the rear. The tS also comes with Hitachi dampers at all four corners, plus unique dark-gray 18-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 high-performance rubber. Externally, the tS is only distinguished by trim-specific badging, as well as a black shark-fin antenna and mirrors. Inside, it gets blue stitching on the seats, steering wheel, parking brake boot and shifter boot.
Powertrain Specs and MPG
The BRZ’s 2.4-liter flat-four engine carries over unchanged and makes 228 horsepower and 184 pounds-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, and a six-speed automatic is available. All BRZs are rear-wheel drive. While official fuel economy figures are not yet available, the 2023 model with the manual transmission is rated by the EPA at 20/27/22 mpg city/highway/combined, while the automatic bumps that up to 21/30/25 mpg.
