It’s not as far-reaching as October’s recall, but another recall will be hitting the mailboxes of some 2,400 Tesla Cybertruck owners, this time over an issue concerning the powertrain.

The affected 2024 Cybertrucks may fall victim to a fault in the drive inverter, a component that receives driver inputs via a drive control unit. The faulty inverter may cause a loss of drive power to the wheels, increasing the risk of a crash.

To make the fix, Tesla will replace the drive inverter for free. The automaker will begin notifying owners Jan. 4, 2025, but those with further questions in the meantime can call Tesla at 877-798-3752 (Tesla’s number for this recall is SB-24-40-009), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
