3,100 2020 Toyota Highlanders Recalled for Side Airbag Interference
Airbags are a crucial safety component of any vehicle, which makes any obstruction to an airbag a crucial safety flaw. Such is the case in some 3,100 model-year 2020 Toyota Highlanders and Highlander Hybrids: A recall issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is out for the affected SUVs’ seat trim covers.

Incorrect seat trim covers on one or both of the front seats can prevent the seat-mounted side airbag from deploying properly, which can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Dealers will resolve the issue by inspecting the front seats and replacing the seat trim covers, as necessary, for free. The recall is expected to begin Dec. 13.
