A relatively quiet year for major Kia recalls has been upended with a new missive for more than 82,200 K5 sedans. The culprit for the recall is parking lights that may flicker.
Only model-year 2025 K5s are affected. A software error in the power-net domain controller may cause the parking lights to flicker or illuminate improperly, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
The power-net domain controller software will be updated either by a dealer or via over-the-air update for free. Kia will notify owners June 24, but those with further questions can contact the automaker at 800-333-4542 (Kia’s number for this recall is SC341), call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
