Almost 249,000 Hondas, Acuras Recalled Over Potential Engine Damage

Honda’s latest recall affects nearly 249,000 vehicles, including some from the automaker’s luxury arm Acura. The issue involves a component that may cause the engine stall while driving.

Affected Honda vehicles include model-year 2018-19 Odyssey minivans; model-year 2016 and 2018-19 Pilot SUVs; and model-year 2017 and 2019 Ridgeline pickup trucks. Affected Acura vehicles include model-year 2016-20 MDX SUVs and model-year 2015-20 TLX sedans. Due to a manufacturing error, the connecting rod bearing in the engine may wear prematurely and seize, which could cause the engine to stall unexpectedly. That increases the risk of a fire, crash or injury.

To fix the issue, dealers will inspect and repair or replace the engine of affected vehicles, as necessary, for free. Honda will begin notifying owners Jan. 2, 2024, but those with further questions in the meantime can call the automaker at 888-234-2138 (Honda’s numbers for this recall are XG1 and GG0), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
