Start your engines — the first “official” word on summer pricing will come today from GM. Don’t believe your local nightly news; this isn’t the free-for-all you’ve been led to believe, but it is a good deal. Starting June 29 and continuing through July 5, GM will offer 0% financing for six years on most 2006 Chevrolet, GMC, Saturn, Pontiac and Buick models. Cadillac, Hummer and Saab 2006 models will see 0% for five-year terms.

The 0% offer will also be available for three-year terms on relatively successful new SUVs like the 2007 Chevy Tahoe, Suburban, Avalanche and GMC Yukon XL.

The only exclusions seem to be the Chevrolet Corvette, Pontiac Solstice, Pontiac G6 convertible, Hummer H1 and medium-duty trucks. We’re surprised not to see the Saturn Sky mentioned in that group. No deals from Chrysler or Ford have been announced or reported in this much detail, but expect a significant sale from Chrysler during this same period.
