Acura’s hotly anticipated entry into the luxury compact SUV market got a bit more interesting today with an announced starting price of $32,995. The all-wheel-drive RDX features a 240-hp turbo four-cylinder engine that gets 19/23 mpg city/highway.

Like the rest of Acura’s lineup, the $32,995 price includes almost every option a buyer would want standard, including leather seats, dual-zone climate control, a premium sound system, a six-disc CD changer, XM Satellite Radio, an MP3-player input, heated front seats, a moonroof and heated mirrors.

The only option you can order is what Acura calls the Technology Package. For $36,495 you get an RDX with an upgraded stereo, a navigation system with voice recognition and traffic monitoring, and a hands-free cell phone control.

The RDX officially goes on sale Aug. 10 and we expect it to be a popular — and less expensive — alternative to the BMW X3.
