Today, GM unveiled a few teaser shots of its new minivan for the Chinese market. Called the Buick GL8, the model will be fully revealed Nov. 28, and it is supposedly tailored for China’s chauffeured elite.
The car is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder or a 3.0-liter V-6 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. It will feature OnStar and Buick’s Quiet Tuning System.
On the outside, the model sports all of Buick’s modern design elements. The inside has an all-new interior, too. One photo shows a second-row window that can roll down and a upward kink in the side profile that’s reminiscent of the 2011 Honda Odyssey’s “lightning bolt” styling.
The GL8 reminds us that America’s largest automaker is minivan bereft. The Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna sport top trim levels north of $40,000. A Buick this nice could be similarly priced.
Should Buick bring the model to the U.S., or does the minivan infringe on Buick’s new sporty intentions? Vote in our poll below.
