Chevrolet’s trickling of 2016 Camaro info during the past few months has revealed the next-generation muscle car is 70 percent new with a 28 percent stiffer body and is at least 200 pounds lighter. Under the hood of the SS model will be a version of the 6.2-liter V-8 borrowed from the Chevrolet Corvette.

While the full exterior is still under wraps, images of brake rotors and calipers, wheels, exhaust and structural components have been released, and you can now add an official look at the rear shell and aluminum hood to the list of teaser images.
Chevrolet says the new Camaro’s exterior is crafted to look form-fitted around the mechanical components. The effect appears most notable in the trunk lid that wraps closely around the rear of the car, which differs from the flatter and wider rear end of the current Camaro. The rear roofline and fender have a familiar and aggressive look, however, similar to the current-generation car.
Stay tuned for more Camaro news; the car will be unveiled on May 16.
