Over Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne’s swift warning of “as limited as you can,” this afternoon Dodge chief Ralph Gilles let slip a few details on what the refreshed (or redesigned?) Chrysler minivans might get.

“Significant intervention, both externally and especially internally,” Gilles said. “We’re responding to a litany of customer requests and complaints and observations from third-party comments,” perhaps even those on Cars.com.

Drivers want a van that’s “more efficient, but mostly, more comfortable,” Gilles said. That raised a question from a journalist about the seats in Chrysler minivans.

“The seats are …” Marchionne led the reporter.

“Well, they’re not very comfortable,” the journalist replied.

“Then we’re going to fix them,” Marchionne pronounced. As we’ve noted at Cars.com, the Chrysler minivan seats, especially the Stow ‘n Go backseats, are particularly uncomfortable.

Gilles wouldn’t reveal details about what’s going to change on the exterior of the vans, but he did say about the changes: “You’ll see. It’s substantial.

“It’s more substantial than it was planned to be.”
