Child-safety seat brand Cybex is recalling some 31,000 examples of its Aton and Cloud rear-facing infant car seats over the potential failure of webbing in a seat belt adjuster.
Affected models include the Aton, Aton 2, Aton M, Aton Q and Cloud Q rear-facing infant seats. The design of the webbing for the central seat belt adjuster allows it to fray, which can reduce the strength of the seat belt, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
To resolve the issue, Cybex parent company Columbus Trading-Partners will mail owners a replacement adjuster strap assembly and installation instructions for free. Owners will be notified March 13, but those with further questions can call Columbus Trading-Partners at 877-242-5676 or visit NHTSA’s website to check their car seat’s brand or model for other recalls and learn more.
