Electrified vehicles swept the 20th annual World Car Awards at the 2024 New York International Auto Show, and the all-new 2024 Kia EV9 took home two awards: 2024 World Electric Vehicle and the prestigious 2024 World Car of the Year.

The EV9 is the only three-row all-electric SUV from a mainstream brand, and its starting price of $56,395 (including a $1,495 destination charge) means the EV9 is an affordable option for families who want an EV and need plenty of space for kids and cargo.
The other winners of this year’s World Car Awards were:
- BMW 5 Series, traditional gas powertrain, and i5, an EV: 2024 World Luxury Car
- Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, an EV: 2024 World Performance Car
- Volvo EX30, an EV: 2024 World Urban Car
- Toyota Prius, a hybrid: 2024 World Car Design of the Year
In February, World Car jurors named Adrian Newey, chief technical officer of Red Bull Racing, the 2024 World Car Person of the Year.
The World Car jury comprises more than 100 automotive journalists from 29 countries, and jurors test-drive new and fully redesigned cars that are sold on more than one continent. In 2023, South Korean automaker Hyundai nabbed three of the six World Car Awards for its 2023 Ioniq 6: World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle and World Car Design of the Year.
