After announcing in January that it would increase production efforts for its Mustang Mach-E electric SUV, Ford is doubling down on efforts to maximize sales by expanding such production efforts for several of its most popular models to help it meet surging consumer demand.
In addition to the Mustang Mach-E, vehicles mentioned by name include the Bronco Sport SUV; F-150, F-150 Lightning and Maverick pickup trucks; and Transit and E-Transit vans. The F-150 Lightning will come as especially good news to shoppers after Ford was forced to suspend the all-electric pickup’s production in February due to an issue with the battery pack that caused one truck to catch fire during a quality inspection. Ford says production of the truck will resume March 13.
In addition to making more vehicles available, Ford’s production increases are also attempting to help the company generate a follow-up performance in overall sales. With new versions of the Ranger, Escape, Mustang and Super Duty heavy-duty trucks due to launch in the near future, the company is hopeful these figures will help boost sales further.
