Ford is recalling certain 2012-18 Focus cars previously repaired incorrectly under a recall in October 2018. The issue may cause the engine to stall while driving.
Affected vehicles include certain model-year 2012-18 Focus sedans and hatchbacks that were repaired under an earlier recall. The canister purge valve of these vehicles may malfunction, which could cause the engine to stall unexpectedly while driving. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.
To resolve the issue, dealers will update the powertrain control module software for free. Notification letters are expected to be mailed July 6, but those with further questions can contact Ford at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 26S40), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
