Ford is recalling more than 332,700 examples of its Mustang sports car over an issue with the front seat belts that may increase the risk of injury during a crash.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2015-17 Mustangs. Water and road salt may corrode the front seat-belt anchor pretensioner cables, causing them to break. This may prevent them from restraining an occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
To resolve the issue, dealers will replace both front seat-belt anchor pretensioner assemblies and remove sections of the carpet and underlayment that contact the cables, as necessary, for free. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk will be mailed this month; additional letters will be sent once a final remedy is available, which Ford expects will be January 2026. Those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25S92), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
