What’s New?
Not to be confused with the Corolla compact sedan and hatchback, Toyota’s smallest SUV sports new grille designs that differentiate the Corolla Cross gas model and the Corolla Cross Hybrid. The former has wider spacing, whereas the hybrid has a more compact mesh design in line with other electrified vehicles in Toyota’s lineup.
Inside, a 10.5-inch touchscreen is available over the standard 8-inch display, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is now optional. A Cold Weather Package that includes heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are available throughout the AWD lineup; it’s standard on AWD XLE and hybrid XSE trim levels. A new Portobello interior color and a new exterior color, Cavalry Blue, can be had, and Toyota also updated the wheel designs available on certain trims. The Nightshade Edition offered for 2025 is not on the docket so far for 2026.

All 2026 Corolla Cross models come with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning with steering assist, lane-centering steering, road-sign recognition and automatic high beams.
The entry-level Corolla Cross L rides on 17-inch steel wheels and has cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, two USB-C ports, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The LE trim adds blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert and 17-inch alloy wheels. It also comes with two USB-C ports for rear passengers, keyless entry and start, automatic climate control and wireless phone charging.
The well-equipped XLE sports 18-inch wheels, front and rear parking sensors, and LED daytime running lights and foglamps. It sheds its budget-car persona with synthetic leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and the 10.5-inch touchscreen with a satellite radio trial.
The Corolla Cross Hybrid embraces the S badging that suggests “Sport” throughout Toyota’s lineup, but the features are the same as the gas-only Corolla Cross. So the hybrid S, SE and XSE correlate to the L, LE, and XLE trims listed above.
Powertrain Specs and MPG
The Corolla Cross’s gas engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 169 horsepower and 151 pounds-feet of torque; it’s paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. FWD is standard, and AWD is available. Toyota expects the 2025 model’s EPA ratings of 31/33/32 mpg city/highway/combined to carry over for 2026; same with the AWD version, which was rated at 29/31/30 mpg.
Every Corolla Cross Hybrid is AWD, as one electric motor helps drive the front wheels and another powers the rear wheels when needed. A third motor starts the engine and acts as a generator to charge the battery. Also employing a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, the hybrid generates a total of 196 hp and was rated at 45/38/42 mpg for 2025.
