How Much Is the 2027 Kia K4?
What Car Shoppers Need to Know
- The 2027 Kia K4 is a compact car available as a sedan or hatchback.
- Most K4s have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, but the GT-Line Turbo has a 190-horsepower, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder.
- The K4 sedan’s base price is $23,635; the hatchback starts at $26,335 (including destination fee).
Kia introduced the compact K4 sedan for 2025 to replace the Forte. For 2026, the K4 Hatchback joined the family, giving Kia shoppers alternatives to competitors like the Honda Civic, Mazda3 and Toyota Corolla, all of which also offer a choice between sedan and hatchback body styles. With two body styles and five trim levels, the 2027 Kia K4 offers buyers a lot of choices, all at affordable prices.

What’s Changed for 2027?
The only differences between the 2026 and 2027 K4s concern color. The Premium Package available for the GT-Line sedan and hatchback now includes black 18-inch wheels, while the red interior color for the GT-Line and GT-Line Turbo sedans is now available in conjunction with the Steel Gray exterior color (along with the carryover Interstellar Gray, Snow White and Aurora Black).
Fuel Economy
Every K4 except the GT-Line Turbo is powered by a 147-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 132 pounds-feet of torque and is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. As its name implies, the GT-Line Turbo gets a turbocharged engine, a 190-hp, 1.6-liter four-cylinder making 195 pounds-feet of torque. The Turbo trades the CVT for an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is the only available drivetrain configuration.
| Trim | Powertrain | City MPG | Highway MPG | Combined MPG |
| LX, LXS, EX, GT-Line (sedan) | 147-hp gas | 29 | 39 | 33 |
| EX, GT-Line (hatchback) | 147-hp gas | 28 | 34 | 30 |
| GT-Line Turbo | 190-hp gas | 26 | 33 | 28 |
Interior Features
Kia’s Drive Wise safety technology is included on every 2027 K4. Standard systems include forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-following assist, a driver-attention monitor and automatic high beams.
The K4 LX is typically equipped for an entry-level sedan in this class: cloth upholstery, manually adjustable seats, air conditioning and a four-speaker audio system. It also has a (manual) tilt/telescoping steering column, 12.3-inch touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The LX rides on 16-inch steel wheels, but it boasts LED headlights and taillights, heated exterior mirrors, keyless entry and start, and remote start.
The LXS adds blind spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert, as well as 16-inch aluminum wheels, a 60/40-split, folding rear seat (versus the fixed seatback in the LX) and two more speakers.
Mid-level on the sedan, the EX is the base trim for the K4 hatchback, but all three hatchback trim levels get the same equipment as their sedan counterparts. On the EX, that means synthetic leather upholstery, upgraded interior trim, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and wireless phone charging. The EX’s wheels also are upsized to 17s.
The GT-Line is more than just an appearance package, swapping out the lower trim levels’ torsion-beam rear suspension for a sport-tuned multilink setup that provides more sophisticated ride and handling. The GT-Line also features 18-inch wheels, satin-chrome and gloss-black exterior trim, a power-adjustable driver’s seat and paddle shifters.
Likewise, the GT-Line Turbo is more than just a performance upgrade. In addition to its turbocharged engine, the GT-Line Turbo sports upgraded headlights and taillights, a moonroof, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, navigation, eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and aluminum pedals.
The only additional safety tech available on the K4 is the Turbo’s Technology Package, which bundles front cross-traffic alert, emergency steering assist, blind spot intervention, a 360-degree camera system, and front, side and rear parking sensors with rear automatic braking. The Technology Package also includes Kia’s Highway Driving Assist 2 hands-on semi-autonomous driving system.
Versus the Competition
The previous K4 was the cheapest new car you could buy in 2026. Not surprisingly, many of the K4’s key FWD rivals in the table below are also among the most affordable cars. The Kia is likely to undercut them all on price again for 2027, but there’s a lot of value to be had from multiple brands in this class (all prices below include destination).
