What Car Shoppers Need to Know

  • The 2027 Nissan Altima is a mid-size sedan that competes with the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
  • Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available on the uplevel SR trim.
  • With FWD, the Altima starts at $29,065; the AWD sedan is priced from $31,965 (all prices include destination).

Nissan hadn’t planned on the Altima seeing the 2026 model year, having announced that the mid-size sedan would be discontinued. But then the brand changed course, sold nearly 100,000 Altimas in 2026, and the 2027 model is headed to dealers now.

Pricing

The 2027 Nissan Altima is on sale now. Full pricing (including the $1,275 destination charge) is as follows:

What’s Changed for 2027?

AWD is no longer available on the entry-level Altima SV, but it remains a $1,500 option on the SR. The Midnight Edition, introduced for 2026, and SR Premium Package, which added luxury equipment such as leather upholstery, a Bose sound system and a 360-degree camera system, are likewise discontinued.

Fuel Economy

The 2027 Altima is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The 2.5-liter generates 188 horsepower and 180 pounds-feet of torque with FWD; output is reduced to 182 hp and 178 pounds-feet with AWD.

Interior Features

The remaining Altima lineup suggests that perhaps 2027 will be the model’s final year. Nissan is offering only the SV and SR trim levels, and while the SR costs more, many of the Altima’s premium features are only available in an option package that is solely available for the SV.

Standard equipment on the SV includes cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as six speakers. Exterior features include 17-inch aluminum wheels, LED headlights, keyless entry and start, and remote start.

The SR rides on a sport-tuned suspension and can be identified by its 19-inch wheels, black mirror housings and dark-chrome grille. It also gains paddle shifters and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity and charging.

Standard safety features on the 2027 Altima include forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, a driver-attention monitor, automatic high beams and rear parking sensors.

Available exclusively for the entry-level trim, the SV Premium Package bundles adaptive cruise control and lane departure steering assist with a moonroof, leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and the SR’s larger infotainment display.

Versus the Competition

The 2027 Nissan Altima is one of just two sedans in its class to offer AWD, the other being the Toyota Camry. However, the Camry’s standard hybrid powertrain is vastly more efficient than the Altima’s, and every other sedan in the class offers a broader range of luxury, technology and safety features.

Model Powertrain Type Price (With Destination Fee) City/Highway/Combined MPG
2027 Hyundai Sonata SE Gas $28,895 26/38/31
2027 Kia K5 LXS Gas $28,935 26/37/30
2027 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV Gas $29,065 26/36/30*
2026 Honda Accord LX Gas $29,690 29/37/32
2027 Toyota Camry LE Hybrid $30,995 52/49/51*
